HOK, an architectural firm in downtown St Louis, welcomes practicum students who would like to experience working in a special library. Practicum students in this position can tailor the work they do to their own interests (to a certain extent). This is a busy library with a solo librarian who you will learn a lot from. If anyone would like details about this or if you would like to hear about my practicum experience there, feel free to email me at the email address found on this page (phegger). It’s a little late for the fall, but you might still be able to hook it up if you act soon!

Dropping Dewey? June 11, 2007

Gilbert Library to be the first to drop Dewey Decimal System (azcentral.com) Looks like they are planning to shelve books by topic, a la Big Bookstore. What do you think, public library folks…does this help the patron, or complicate things further?
