Reference Librarian (Part-Time) – Pius XII Memorial Library

Saint Louis University, a Catholic, Jesuit institution dedicated to student learning, research, health care, and service, is seeking applicants for a temporary, part-time Reference Librarian for 15-20 hours per week beginning immediately and continuing through the 2007-2008 academic year.  For information about Pius XII Memorial Library, please see http://www.slu.edu/libraries/pius/.

 

Duties: Provide reference service during some late afternoons, week nights, and weekends to a diverse user population at a busy reference desk.  Provide general reference and technical assistance in the use of the library catalog, online databases, and other electronic and print resources.  Perform other reference responsibilities as assigned.

 

Qualifications: M.L.S. (or equivalent) from ALA accredited program. Late afternoon, weekend and evening availability.  Strong service orientation.  Excellent communication skills.  Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team as needed.

 

Preferences:  Prior academic library reference experience.

 

Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.  (Minimum: $15.00/hour; no benefits)

An opening exists in the Bureau of Auxiliary Services for the position of Senior Record & Information Manager to develop, organize, maintain and manage an ongoing record and information management system program to ensure the Department’s records retention schedule is adhered.  Serve as the senior technical expert on agency-wide electronic and non-electronic records management issues.

Skills typically required for the Senior Record & Information Manager position include:

    * Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.  Major course work in Information Systems, Library Science, or Records Management preferred.
    * Certification as a Certified Records Manager (CRM) or CRM candidacy is highly desired.
    * Minimum 5 to7 years of related experience with relevant records and information management experience with a minimum of 2 years of management or supervisory experience.
    * Strong knowledge of file and records and information management practices and security records management systems, which includes retention and disposition.
    * Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
    * Strong planning and organization skills, including the ability to manage a number of projects concurrently.
    * Experience in workflow analysis and design relating to managing information
    * Ability to work with all levels of management to assure compliance with policies, procedures, and practices of the records and information management program.
 
Grade 15E - Salary Range:  $69,401 - $86,441 annually

Contemporary trends, ideas, and issues will be addressed. Please come with your thoughts and ideas! It should be an enlightening discussion! We will be discussing the following articles:

DUTIES:

- Manages the overall operations and services of 3 Mini Branches and 2
Library Expresses including management of branch employees, branch
activities, customer service issues, facility maintenance and branch
community aspects.
- The position will provide connectivity for the smaller branches, employees and communities.
- Travels regularly between branches and serves as the liaison with all
other Branches and Departments for the Minis and Expresses.
- Also, coordinates the planning, organizing, and implementing of adult
programming District-wide, including coordinating the marketing and
promoting of adult library materials, services and programs through
personal contacts, presentations, and branch tours.

REQUIREMENTS:

- Must have excellent communication, organizational and customer service skills,
- Have 3 years of relevant experience, be able to drive between branch locations in St. Charles County, and
- Hold an accredited Masters in Library Science degree.
- Prefer prior experience in management or supervision.

SALARY: $52,248 to $63,564 for MLS;
58,764 to $71,496 with second masters.
