Are you a member of the ALA? Here are some recent topics from the ALA’s
Member Publication, American Libraries Direct, which is sent to members by email once a week:

  • EPA Allegedly Plans to Reduce Access to Online Publications
  • Wisconsin Joins Google Library Project
  • Beleaguered New Jersey Librarian Resigns
  • Missouri Trustees Pull Graphic Novels, For Now
  • Patriot Act Challenge Allowed to Proceed
  • Harry Potter Challenger Appeals to Georgia State Board

ALA membership has many benefits, including reduced-price publications, email lists, roundtables, and more. Plus, this organization goes to bat for librarians and important issues that effect libraries…what a great organization to support!

Hey, I’m in ALA. My primary reasons for joining were to get American Libraries, and to be connected to happenings in the field. The weekly email helps with that, too.
It’s good to be on the mailing list, to learn about all the conferences and stuff going on.
