(The first few times I tried, this didn’t publish, so I apologize profusely if this ends up posting more than once!)

This sounds like a great opportunity! I’m planning on driving out to Columbia for this, and am able to take up to three additional people. I plan on staying the whole day (from the presentation through at least part of the Happy Hour). Contact me at arp305@mizzou.edu if you’re interested in going! If others are planning on driving and are willing to give rides, please post a comment…

Student discussion and Happy Hour at Boone Tavern with Dr. Thomas Mann of the LOC!!

Join SISLT and LISGSA for two incredible opportunities to meet and speak with Dr. Thomas Mann, a Reference Librarian in the Main Reading Room of the Library of Congress for twenty-five years. Dr. Mann will be in Columbia on November 10, 2006 to present at the SISLT Speakers Series (presentation at 9 a.m. in Acuff Auditorium (just across from Health Sciences Library)). He will attend two additional events just for you:

Friday, November 10, 2006

3:00 p.m. Student Forum with Dr. Mann – An informal discussion with students about the future of libraries, being held in Townsend, Room 222. All are welcome.

5:00 p.m. Happy Hour at Boone Tavern & Restaurant with Dr. Mann (FREE FOOD) – SISLT faculty, students, and friends (including Dr. Mann) will be meeting for dinner. All are welcome, and appetizers will be provided for free (compliments of SISLT). Reservations are placed under the name “SISLT.”

Boone Tavern and Restaurant is located at the corner of Walnut and 8th next to the Court House in downtown Columbia just north of Broadway. For more information about the restaurant, visit http://www.boonetavern.com or call (573) 442-5123.

We look foward to seeing you!!
