* Coordinate document retrieval and interlibrary-loan including payment to suppliers
* Coordinate acquisition of books for Library and Information Services
* Coordinate purchase of books for clients work areas to include payment and charge-back
* Assure that the organization and cataloging identification of library materials is complete, accurate and enables accessibility to the collection.
* Conduct client-demanded information research.


1. Coordinates retrieval of books, videos, 55% articles, patents, standards and other documents from libraries, document suppliers and other worldwide sources, balancing cost against consumption of staff time and clients’ need for rapid delivery. Reviews titles obtained identifying candidates for LIS purchase.
2. Performs both regular and advanced descriptive 15% and subject cataloging*.
3. Performs acquisition of books for Library 10% and Information Services.
4. Conducts acquisition of books for worldwide 5% clients’ work areas while negotiating volume and other discounts for employees.
5. Provides detailed research to business and 5% technical clients for special projects and on demand using library collection, searching via CD and online technologies and conferring with information brokers and others.
6. Consults with clients and provides orientation 5% to the general and special collections as well as to end-user automated technologies.
7. Works to resolve system issues with Library’s 5% online integrated library system.
8. Determines retention requirements of library’s 5% book and serial collections in concert with manager.
9. Backs-up the circulation of library materials. 5%
10.Meets established standards for functions. 5%

Four-year college degree. Continuing education courses helpful.

– At least 2 years document acquisition, cataloging and research experience.
– Knowledge of information retrieval tools and options in a library setting, preferably a corporate, charge-back arena.
-Uses and is willing to learn/implement automated tools/technologies. Conversant with Microsoft Office, OCLC and pc-based serials control systems.
-Good oral and written communication skills vital.
-Need for accuracy is paramount.
-Must be able to pay a high attention to detail.
-Ability to take the initiative to complete assignments.
-Above-average ability to manage time well so that constantly shifting highest priority items are identified/addressed amidst a backdrop of interruptions.
-Well-developed judgment, decision-making and negotiating skills especially as related to fiscal matters.
