1. Manages Chamberlain College of Nursing St. Louis campus library.
2. Prepares short and long-term recommendations for the College of Nursing libraries that are thorough, timely, accurate, and cost-effective. These recommendations include, but are not limited to, space planning for the St. Louis campus library, capital expenditures, new/replacement equipment, new/revised organizational structure, and new and/or improved services.
3. Evaluates potential and existing contractual arrangements with library networks and outside vendors for provision of services to the library. Makes recommendations based on evaluations. Monitors budget and maintains budget records. Checks monthly receipt/accrual report and resolves problems. Troubleshoots ordering and billing problems
4. Prepares, updates, and implements library policies that are consistent with the policies and philosophies of Chamberlain College of Nursing. Oversees development and implementation of library procedures.
5. Ensures that the library and the information services for which the library is responsible meet the accreditation standards of the Joint Commission on Health Care organizations, the North Central Association, the National League for Nursing, the American Association of Colleges of Nursing, and the Missouri State Board of Nursing. Prepares timely reports for accreditation by these bodies as requested.
6. Participates in the recruitment, hire and evaluation of library employees according to policies and procedures. Oversees and participates in orientation and ongoing education of new employees. Schedules employees effectively within budget parameters. Reinforces appropriate employee behavior.
7. Serves as liaison between the library and appropriate groups within and without Chamberlain College of Nursing and DeVry Inc. Promotes library services to appropriate groups.
8. Reports on library collections and services through timely statistical reports. Regularly evaluates library collections and periodically evaluates library services.
9. Acquires materials for the library in accordance with policies and procedures. Weeds library collections on an ongoing basis in accordance with policies and procedures. Assists with system-wide collection development processes.
10. Provides efficient and effective reference service using print, computerized and alternate resources as appropriate.
11. Participates effectively in the development and implementation of library orientation and instructional programs. Participates effectively in informal and formal patron instruction in database searching and library skills.
12. Catalogs library materials in St. Louis campus library in a timely, accurate, and cost-effective manner. Monitors databases’ consistency in conjunction with Library Systems Coordinator at DeVry  University. Coordinates bindery activities
13. Keeps current in the library and information science field through reading and attendance at professional meetings and training programs as funding permits. Participates in professional organizations.
14. Participates effectively in the library’s circulation, interlibrary loan, and reserves service according to the library’s written policies and procedures. Deals effectively and fairly with problems, following written policies and procedures when available. Prepares timely revisions in procedures.
15. Works closely with DeVry University librarians in identifying resources needed for College of Nursing and meeting the needs of nursing students, as well as coordinating access issues and acquisitions.
16. Serves as a resource to nursing students in accessing library resources.
17. Performs other duties as necessary including but not limited to clerical activities.

ALA accredited Masters degree in library science/library and information science
Membership in MLA Academy of Health Information Professionals preferred
Minimum two years experience in an academic medical library or teaching hospital library
Minimum two years experience in computerized literature searching
Experience with microcomputer software and hardware and the internet
Minimum 2 years of experience searching major medical databases, including but not limited to MEDLINE and CINAHL.
Familiarity with a wide range of biomedical databases desirable.
Demonstrated supervisory/managerial skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Demonstrated teaching skills
Ability to work well with a diverse range of patrons
Strong service attitude
