Information Management Librarian

Job Description:
This person work closely with Global R&D researchers to provide data and information that facilitates the discovery and development of drug candidates; will deliver current awareness alerting services, and competitor/business activity tracking information; and function as a member of the team providing information service support to researchers or a business line. This person will apply scientific knowledge and insight to interpret, analyze and integrate information for customers; apply subject-specific information science skills to information retrieval and analysis; and train customers in use of self-service information resources and associated technologies. This person provides information science and library science support; demonstrates expertise in at least one scientific subject or therapeutic area; and identifies, analyzes and integrates internal and external information to support innovation and decision-making within the drug discovery and development process. This person formulates complex information queries and analyzes results; evaluates and selects information resources; and develops and applies taxonomies and thesauri. Librarians will develop and manage physical and virtual collections of published information, organize and categorize information to facilitate retrieval and delivery. Candidates must be capable of performing effectively in a team, or alone and unsupervised. This person communicates effectively with team members and management. This may require specialized pharmaceutical industry experience.

A BS in Biology, strong oral and written communication skills, and demonstrated client focus and service orientation is required. Candidates must have the ability to work independently, be attentive to details, and have knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Experience in information sciences discipline within a Pharmaceutical or Biotechnology company is desirable. Knowledge of DataStar, Micropatent, EndNote is desirable. 3-5 years of Information Management is required. Candidates must have a MS in Information Science. Biology, Medicine, Chemistry, IP, Competitive Intelligence and Information science / library science theory and practice is required. This person must have communications skills, skills as a Customer Liaison and Training. Pharmaceutical Industry Experience is required. PGRD specific tools and applications in the Digital Library is necessary.

If anyone has any questions about the BAE positions, please let me know. I am in one of the Research Librarian positions (actually, the title is Research Analyst), and can give some insight into both this and the cataloger position. I’ve worked at this facility for a year and a half.
