Job Description
Under the direction of the Associate Dean for Access, Bibliographic, and Information Services, the Head of Access provides flexible, responsive customer-focused leadership for Circulation Services, Reserves, Interlibrary Loan, and the Arc Technology Center. Develops and coordinates access policies and procedures among Olin and the departmental and school libraries. Stays abreast of current developments in providing service to users, and looks for more effective ways to meet their needs. Monitors electronic reserves and intellectual property rights issues. Manages the Libraries’ participation in consortial resource sharing programs. Participates broadly in library and University initiatives and library leadership.
Job Requirements
MLS from an ALA-accredited library school; demonstrated commitment to excellent customer service; at least 3 years supervisory experience, preferably in an academic library; experience with the operation of an automated library management system; excellent communication skills and the ability to excel in a collegial environment; understanding of the needs of a research university in a changing environment; ability to learn new technologies and instruct others in their use; strong analytical, interpersonal and problem-solving skills; knowledge of copyright and intellectual property issues; experience with ILLiad, ERes, and III circulation management preferred.
