What is the purpose of children’s book awards? How do they affect multi-culturalism in the library? And how do books that children and teens would pick as winners compare to books that adults would rate as winners? Discuss these topics and more with classmates, colleagues and friends at Blackberry Café on Saturday, February 10th.. Here are some articles to get us started.

Give us a Voice, We’ll Give you Newbery! Teens become Newbery Reviewers. Library Media Connection February 2006. Volume 24 Issue 5.

Awards that Stand on Solid Ground. Horn Book Magazine. September / October 2001, Volume 77, Issue 5

Building a Multicultural School Library: Issues and Challenges. Teacher Librarian, February 2007. Volume 34, Issue 3.

Blackberry Café is located at 6611 Clayton Road (across from Schuncks). We will be meeting at 10 a.m. Look forward to seeing you there!
