The Washington University Libraries are seeking an energetic individual
with a deep commitment to library leadership, innovation, and customer
service to head its Access units (24 full time staff, 12 student FTEs).
The ability to both lead and manage these services while managing and
instigating continuous change is critical.

Responsibilities
Works with the Associate Dean for Access, Bibliographic, and Information
Services, to provide leadership for Circulation Services, Reserves,
Interlibrary Loan, and the Arc Technology Center. Participates in the
Libraries’ Leadership Group. Works with colleagues to evolve the mission
for the Arc and other efforts in the Libraries’ developing information
commons. Develops and coordinates access policies for all the University
Libraries. Develops and implements more effective ways to meet student
and faculty needs. Oversees the Libraries’ participation in consortial
resource sharing programs. Participates in University-wide initiatives
as opportunities arise.

Qualifications

MLS from an ALA-accredited library school; demonstrated energy,
initiative, and commitment to customer service; at least 3 years
supervisory experience, preferably in an academic library; experience
with the operation of automated library management systems; excellent
communication skills and ability to lead and excel in a collegial
environment; understanding of the changing needs of a research
university; ability to learn new technologies and instruct others in
their use; strong analytical, interpersonal and problem-solving skills;
familiarity with intellectual property issues; experience with ILLiad,
ERes, and III circulation management preferred.
