Regular, full-time position (37.5 hours per week). $13.00-$16.25 per hour.

Minimum qualifications:

-Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
-Proven ability to work effectively with faculty, students, staff, and public. Strong service orientation required.
-Experience working as part of a team.
-Proven ability to work independently with a minimum of supervision, to analyze situations effectively, to use judgment appropriately, and to organize workflow.
-Strong verbal and writing skills.
-Ability to type accurately and quickly.
-Experience with basic PC office operations. Windows and Microsoft Office experience.
-Flexibility and adaptability to various work schedules and changing environments. Ability to work under pressure.
-Knowledge of basic web page design and maintenance.
-Physical stamina.

Preferred qualifications:

-Experience with automated library systems and knowledge of electronic information sources on the internet preferred.
-Library science courses and/or library work experience desirable.

Job description:

Under the supervision of the Chemistry Librarian, the Library Assistant for Chemistry is responsible for the efficient day-to-day operations of the Chemistry Library. The primary responsibilities of this position include assisting patrons in the use of both print and online chemistry resources, assisting the librarian with faculty liaison responsibilities with respect to collections, creating and maintaining web pages to facilitate the migration of chemistry library resources from a print to an online environment, working with other library staff as needed to maintain online resources, and assisting in creating and maintaining online/digital library training materials for chemistry faculty and students. Assumes responsibility for the Chemistry Library in the absence of the Chemistry Librarian.
