Downtown Gallery Walk, Friday June 1st May 14, 2007

Posted by Stephanie McReynolds in Fun Stuff.

Join SLA librarians, library science students, and others for great art, food, and fresh air!

On Friday June 1st we will meet for the St. Louis First Friday Downtown Gallery Walk . Participating downtown art galleries open their doors to the public from 6 to 9 pm every first Friday. Some offer wine tastings in addition to great art!

We will meet between 5:30 and 5:50 pm in the Culver Gallery at the Central location of the St. Louis Public Library. Address: 1301 Olive, St. Louis, MO 63103. (We must depart from Central by 6 pm because the library closes at that time.) If you did not get a chance to see the beautiful illustrations related to the Fairy Tale Exhibit this past year, here is your chance! St. Louis Public Library is opening the Culver Gallery just for us. (The art exhibit in Culver has been closed to the public for some time, now.) Feel free to visit the library earlier, if you wish. The architecture alone is worth a trip.

There is no need to worry about parking because St. Louis Public Library will leave the gate up to the lot on 15th and Olive starting at 5 pm on June 1st. (If you choose to park at a meter, be aware that the meters are not free until after 7 pm.)

After our walk (around 7 pm) we will end up at Red Moon on 1500 St. Charles for “classical Asian dishes prepared with a contemporary French flair” and sake and other good drinks.

Check out a map of the area.

You are welcome to join us for any part of the evening. Just RSVP to Stephanie Hood at sjhy83@mizzou.edu so we will know how many to expect. (Please let me know whether you plan to attend the walk, Red Moon, or both.) Feel free to email me if you have any questions.

If you plan to join us at Red Moon, please RSVP by 5 pm on Wednesday, May 30th.

If you plan to attend the walk only, please RSVP by noon on Friday, June 1st. If you find (at the last minute) that you can attend the walk, please go ahead and join us! I am not sure whether I can guarantee a seat at Red Moon if you RSVP late, but I will try to accommodate everyone.

We hope you will join us for this fun and free event!
