Jefferson College is seeking a part-time Adjunct Librarian at its Arnold location.  Responsibilities include reference, bibliographic instruction, circulation, providing patron support with online library resources, and computer hardware and software.  Primarily afternoon, evening and Saturday hours; twelve to sixteen hours per week.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required.  Minimum of nine hours toward Master’s Degree in Library Science or toward certification as a school librarian.  Experience with computer hardware, word processing, presentation software and spreadsheets required.  Experience with library system software beneficial. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Salary:  $15.00 – $16.00 per hour; based on experience/education.

CIRCULATION ASSISTANT-EVENING, PART-TIME

General Description : St. Louis College of Pharmacy is seeking qualified applicants for a part-time, evening Circulation Assistant in our Library. The Circulation Assistant position enables the library to have a staff member at the desk during evening hours and on Sundays. It provides a continuous flow of staff coverage at the Circulation Desk. This position is responsible for managing student workers as well as performing paraprofessional tasks. It gives the professional librarians a chance to engage in reference questions while leaving the circulation desk in capable hands. This position typically works two evenings and every other Sunday.

Responsibility : •Provide Library services for patrons by supervising the operations of the Circulation Desk, with the assistance of other staff or student employees. •Assist patrons with ready reference questions. •Instruct patrons in basic use of various library resources, including the online library catalog and electronic databases and journals. •Train and supervise student library assistants. •Assist with maintaining Reserves collection, including adding and deleting items. •Assist with maintenance of newspaper collection. •Responsible for updating loose-leaf publications. •Ensure patrons have a clean and quiet environment in which to study and conduct research. •Other duties as assigned.

Education : Qualified applicants will have a minimum of two years related library experience and are preferred to have a Bachelor of Arts or Science. Leadership skills in this position are required to effectively deal with student workers and the college community. The successful candidate must be able to relate well to others due to the public service aspect of the position. The ability to adapt to changing situations and differing personalities is also required. Must be able to type on a keyboard, reach top library shelf, lift up to 35 pounds of books in the course of shelving or shifting stacks, and be able to bend and move quickly while shelving books and journals. Reliability and dependability are essential.

Job Description:

Position Summary and Responsibilities:

The Research Library of Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis is seeking a temporary part-time employee to scan and perform after-scan processing on a special document collection, beginning immediately with an estimated project completion date of May 31, 2009. This person will report to the Digital Project Librarian.

The objective of this position is to scan, check and clean documents from the Committee on the History of the Federal Reserve Collection. These materials are on loan from the Brookings Institution and must be handled and processed carefully.

The incumbent will be trained to use various digital scanners and software applications for scanning, cleaning and OCR (optical character recognition). They will also enter appropriate information about each file into an Access database.

Required Skills and Additional Requirements:

Physically able to lift 20 lbs. from floor to tables and place materials in shelving units which are approximately 7’ high.

Demonstrated detailed approach to projects.

Excellent communication skills.

Some post secondary education.

Proficiency in MS Word and Excel.

Ability to learn new software and hardware applications.

Preference will be given to candidates that exhibit the following abilities:

Familiarity with care and handling of archival materials.

Experience with relational databases (esp., Microsoft Access).
